A Message from the District Deputy

Brethren,

As we begin the new year, so begins the term of our new Grand Master, Most Worshipful Roger William Pageau.  On behalf of the Masters, Officers and the Brethren of the Lodges of the Fifth Masonic District, I welcome MW Brother Pageau to his new office and pledge the support of our District to assist him as he embarks upon his new challenge.  I have no doubt that MW Brother Pageau will continue to move this jurisdiction forward towards a very bright future.

The Members of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts also elected RW Jeffrey L. Gardiner to the office of Grand Secretary and RW Lawrence J. Smith, Jr. to the office of Grand Treasurer.  Based upon my experience in working closely with these two Brethren, I am confident that the Lodges of Massachusetts have been place in very capable hands.

Brethren, now is an exciting time to be a Mason in Massachusetts.  This year marks the 275th Anniversary of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.  We are the third oldest Grand Lodge in the world.  The official celebration of Grand Lodge will take place on May 3-5, 2008.  Each of you will receive a communication from the 275th Anniversary Committee.  Please take advantage of the events that will be held.  You will not be sorry if you join the excitement of this historic time.

The Grand Master is also asking that Lodges take advantage of the anniversary and the publicity that will be continuing throughout the year.  Please think about planning a program or two around the theme of the 275th Anniversary.  If you need assistance, please ask and the District Team will respond.

Please mark your calendars with the following dates:

March 8, 2008                    Statewide Open House (all buildings)

                March 31, 2008                  5th Exemplification (3rd Degree) Newtonville

Finally, I wish to recognize Most Worshipful Jeffrey Black Hodgdon.  MW Brother Hodgdon brought our Grand Lodge a new spirit and an incredible work ethic.  His spirit made those around him work harder for this organization and the results of his work are evident in that most every Lodge in this Jurisdiction is better off than they were three years ago.  MW Brother Hodgdon, thank you.

Fraternally,

RW David C. Kramer
